Draft for clinical review. The suitability, risk and aftercare information on this page is general and is being reviewed by our clinical team before it is finalised.
Who DMK skin revision may suit
- Skin experiencing congestion, acne, pigmentation, sensitivity or dehydration
- People wanting a structured in-clinic and home-care program
When it may not be suitable
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (for some treatments)
- Active acne breakouts, cold sores or infection in the treatment area
- Oral isotretinoin (e.g. Roaccutane) or prescription retinoids: enzyme therapy may still be possible, but you must have stopped these before any DMK peel or exfoliating treatment
- Peels: only after completing DMK Enzyme Therapy, and when your therapist confirms suitability. The RP Peel is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with cold sores (herpes) or autoimmune conditions, and needs extra caution on darker skin
Your appointment
- Skin analysis and discussion of your goals, history and current skincare
- Cleanse and treatment matched to your skin, such as enzyme therapy or a peel
- Home-care recommendations and a plan for follow-up treatments
Risks, downtime and aftercare
- Enzyme therapy commonly causes temporary redness and a tight, pulsing sensation
- Peels can cause redness, flaking or sensitivity for several days
- Sun protection and following home-care advice are essential
- Vitamin A peels have minimal downtime and can be a one-off or a series, weekly or every two weeks. The solution stays on for about 8 hours or overnight.
- The RP Peel is a 10-day program, with at least two enzyme treatments in the 10 days beforehand. Peeling is heaviest on days 3 to 5, with clinic follow-ups around day 5 or 6 and day 10
- After a Lunchtime or Vitamin A peel, you may be asked to do a gentle home masque on day 3
Realistic expectations
Skin revision usually takes a course of treatments plus consistent home care. Your therapist will explain what to expect for your skin.
